We started Bestiee to break that habit.
It started with a pharmacy shelf. A daughter standing in front of it, reading the back of four different boxes, none of which told her the one thing she needed to know: which of these will get my mother through the night.
She bought the most expensive one, because that felt like the safest guess. It leaked at two in the morning. She stripped the bed, in the dark, quietly, so her mother would not wake up and feel ashamed of something she could not control.
That story is not unusual. It is the most common story in this category. We heard a version of it from almost every person we spoke to before we made a single product, and the details barely changed: the guessing, the leaking, the silence, the shame that belonged to nobody and landed on everybody.
The products were not the problem. The not knowing was the problem.
We did not set out to make a slightly better pad. We set out to fix the four things that made the whole experience worse than it needed to be.
